We are crocheting together in September! In my Fat Cat CAL, we will be crocheting a truly big and cuddly cat, step by step. At approximately 42 cm long and 45 cm high, Cal is a genuine XXL plush toy and is guaranteed to be an eye-catcher to display, decorate with, or, of course, to cuddle.

What makes this CAL special: The pattern will be released in 4 parts over 4 weeks. Every Thursday, a new section will be available, so you can crochet along at your own relaxed pace.

The Process – 4 Weeks, 4 Parts

The Fat Cat CAL is divided into four parts. A new section awaits you every Thursday:

• 03.09. – Part 1: Back & front paws and the tail
• 10.09. – Part 2: The body
• 17.09. – Part 3: Ears & face
• 24.09. – Part 4: Assembling everything & finishing

If you join in with Part 1, you will automatically receive all subsequent parts during the CAL. At the end, you will receive the complete pattern.

Crochet pattern as a PDF to download

Would you like to crochet your own Fat Cat? Then the CAL is exactly what you are looking for! Whether you have been crocheting for a long time or have just started, anyone can join in.

You only need to master the basic crochet stitches, i.e., single crochet (UK: double crochet) as well as increases and decreases. Additionally, there is an accompanying video with tips and tricks for the individual parts, so you will be guided step-by-step while crocheting.

After your purchase, you will be automatically sent the first part on 03.09. As soon as the subsequent parts are released, you will also automatically receive an email notification. By the end of the CAL, you will have the complete pattern for your Fat Cat. This applies to my shop.

It pays to join the CAL early

Those who are there right from Part 1 benefit from the early bird discount. Depending on when you join, you can save 30 to 40% compared to the later individual price. With each subsequent part, the discount decreases slightly.

What you need for crocheting

You can use various yarns for your Fat Cat. This allows you to decide for yourself how cuddly and large your cat should turn out in the end, depending on the yarn you choose or perhaps have in your stash.

Option 1 – Cotton, needle size 2.5 mm

• 5–6 balls of cotton
• 50 g / 125 m
• for example Catona or find Catona here *
• additionally, an extra color for the face

Option 2 – Stone Washed, needle size 3.0 mm

• 6–7 balls of Stone Washed (find it here)
• solid-colored and cuddly

You can, of course, also use your personal favorite yarn. Depending on the yarn, the finished size of the cat may vary.

Additionally, you will need

• Yarn scraps in white for the eyes
• Pink for the nose
• Black for whiskers and pupils (click here for MeinGarn)
• Safety eyes, approx. 12–15 mm
• at least 500 g of fiberfill (click here for MeinGarn)
• possibly some glue or starch – for the whiskers, this is not strictly necessary
