Easter is just around the corner, and what could be nicer than giving away small, homemade tokens of affection? Today I have a great project for you: a magical little basket that is not only an absolute eye-catcher as an Easter nest, but can also be used wonderfully as a practical storage basket all year round.
How to crochet the basket
The design is created to be really fun and is also perfect for anyone who doesn't like sewing individual pieces together:
-
The structure: We crochet the basket in one piece from the bottom up, very relaxed.
-
The braided look: I decided on a beautifully dense pattern. This not only gives the basket a great, stable base but also looks really elegant in the end – almost as if it were braided!
-
All in one piece: Best of all! The handle is crocheted directly onto the basket. For you, that means: no annoying sewing at the end.

Yarn & endless possibilities
I crocheted my basket in the example using classic cotton yarn. It is perfect for small Easter nests or as storage for cosmetics in the bathroom or pens on your desk.
My tip for an XXL basket: Would you prefer a really big basket for your wool, towels, or toys? No problem at all! The pattern can be adapted wonderfully. Simply grab some thicker cord or rope yarn and a correspondingly larger crochet hook. You can conjure up a great, robust home accessory in no time at all.

To make sure you can easily follow every step, I filmed the entire process for you. Sit back, grab your crochet hook, and just watch my video tutorial. In it, I show you stitch by stitch how this great pattern is made.
