If you are looking for a relaxing crochet project with a stylish result, a Granny Cardigan is just the thing. The look is timeless, comfortable, and suits any season. Especially practical: The cardigan is crocheted from the top down and requires absolutely no sewing.
I created the cardigan pattern back in 2021. Now the model is getting an update: The pattern now additionally includes a new jacket version. This means you can use the same pattern to crochet either the classic cardigan or a jacket with wide cuffs and a collar.
You can freely choose your desired yarn and perfectly adapt the cardigan to the season. Whether airy for the summer, cozy for autumn days, or cuddly warm in winter – you can create very different looks using the same pattern. You will therefore find a summer, autumn, and winter model in the preview images for inspiration.
New: The pattern now contains two variations in one guide. Besides the classic Granny Cardigan, you can also crochet a jacket version with wide cuffs and a collar – giving you a 2-in-1 model so you can design your cardigan exactly to your own style.
What materials you need
- Yarn used:
Summer model 2x 750 m McLana color Dark Red = Size L 1500 m
Winter model 7-8x 100 g, 190 m length, Wollbiene Batik = Size L 1400 m
Jacket model 14x 50 g, Scheepjes Soft Denim size L approx. = 1900 m
- Crochet hook: summer model 3 mm, winter model 5 mm
- Sewing needle, scissors, measuring tape
- 4 stitch markers
